SHIPPING / RECEIVING / INVENTORY CONTROLLER

Job Summary for Shipping / Receiving / Inventory Controller:


Works under general supervision. Picks up and delivers supplies, materials, equipment, and other goods to and from shop areas. Performs a wide range of warehousing activities including, receiving, storing, and issuing general or specialized materials and equipment from the stockroom and other storage areas. Verifies shipments, identifies, and matches materials, by name, code, size and etc., stores, stacks, and palletizes materials. Actively provides support for material requests, fulfills job orders and customer orders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, according to shipping / receiving / inventory positions. . Other duties may be assigned:

Shipping:

  • Processes shipping of time sensitive, high priority orders on short notice.
  • Processes shipping related claims.
  • Reviews daily shipping logs to determine workload.
  • Performs packing, labeling, staging, and shipping of products to ensure its safe transport domestically and internationally using FedEx, UPS, and other common carriers.
  • Processes appropriate bills of lading and related paperwork for commercial domestic and international shipments
  • Works and follows up with other internal departments in the preparation of products for shipment.

Receiving:

  • Processes receipt of raw material and supplies, includes unloading trucks when required
  • Transports materials to appropriate supply / inventory storage.
  • Cleans and maintains office supply room.
  • Maintains appropriate levels of inventory for office supplies, includes keeping office supply machine stocked.
  • Re-orders office supplies, as needed.

Inventory:

  • Cleans and maintains storage areas.
  • Packs and unpacks items to be stocked on shelves in the stockroom and other storage areas.
  • Pulls stock, as required for internal jobs.
  • Maintains proper inventory count of items or material in stock.
  • Calculates proper material lengths to meet machining requirements for jobs, as needed.

All Positions:

  • Determines safe handling and proper safety procedures for handling, moving, and storing materials.
  • Identifies and segregates non-conforming materials.
  • Lifts, manipulates, and move objects weighing up to 100 pounds regularly.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Prepare routine administrative paperwork.
  • Receives, stocks, tracks, and distributes materials, supplies and equipment.
  • Safely uses transporting equipment such as dollies, pallet jacks and forklifts
  • Sorts materials for department deliveries and customer shipments
  • Follows policies and procedures to ensure a safe, professional work environment.

  • Computing skills.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Ability to safely run, maneuver, navigate or drive vehicles or mechanized equipment such as forklifts, dollies, and pallet jacks.
  • Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable of use of arms, legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
  • Knowledge of rules, regulations, and procedures for safe handling/storing/moving of freight shipments.
  • Knowledge of safe lifting methods and techniques.
  • Ability to work as a team member and foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Ability to perform day-to-day administrative task such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork.
  • Ability to work well under tight deadlines and can adjust to requirements, as needed.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School diploma (preferred) or GED. One or more years related experience and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

  • Organizational and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to read and interpret commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Solid math foundation.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in writing, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Lithium Battery Certification (for Shipping and Supervisor)
