MECHANICAL ASSEMBLY TECHNICIAN

Job Summary for Mechanical Assembly Technician:

Performs the following tasks to assemble and disassemble mechanical components, subassemblies, products, or systems: Reads blueprints, work orders, and schematic drawings to determine work procedures or receives verbal and/or written instructions regarding duties to be performed. Positions and aligns parts in specified relationship to each other in jig, fixture, or other holding device. Dismantles machines using appropriate hand tools. Assembles and installs equipment using appropriate hand or power tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret schematics, technical drawings, and specifications to plan and perform mechanical or electrical assembly/disassembly.
  • Select and use appropriate tools, materials, and components for precise maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Assemble, align, and fit mechanical and electrical parts using hand and power tools.
  • Repair or replace worn components, electrical wiring, and fixtures to restore equipment functionality.
  • Lubricate and maintain machinery to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent manual dexterity and familiarity with diverse materials and basic metallurgy.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting schematics, technical drawings, and job specifications.
  • Skilled in diagnosing and repairing various mechanical systems using precision and diagnostic instruments.
  • Knowledgeable in safe work practices, safety regulations, and quality control tools and gauges.
  • Capable of measuring and maintaining precise tolerances using industry-standard instruments and techniques.
