Marva Parker Hartopp
February 2, 1943 to September 20, 2007

Lake City, FL - Marva Parker Hartopp died on September 20, 2007.

Mrs. Hartopp was formerly of Gulfport and was a 1961 graduate of Gulfport High School.  She treasured all of her memories of her childhood and young adulthood.

She served in the U. S. Navy.  After living all over the country, she settled in Lake City, FL to be near some of her children.

She is survived by seven children and fifteen grandchildren.

On August 20th, Marva Parker Hartopp's daughter wrote to our website to let us know that her mother had passed away Sept. 20, 2007.  We had lost contact with Marva and did not know where she was living.  I emailed her daughter, Elizabeth Trail, expressing my condolences, and explained that her classmates had established a fund to use for memorials or flowers and we would like to send a donation in Marva's memory.  In corresponding with Elizabeth, she told me about her mother's failing health, and also, about her love for her animals.  I suggested the American Heart Assoc. or the Humane Society of South Mississippi.  Elizabeth said her mother would be pleased to know that a donation would be made in her name to the Humane Society.  So,  that is what the Class of '61 has done.  Elizabeth jokingly told me that she would tell her mother that when she dies, she wants to come back as one of her mother's dogs since she loved them so much!!

Since the fund was started in 2004, we have sent flowers or made memorial contributions to 8 classmates.  We will continue to do so because of your generosity.  Please let me know if you hear of the death of a classmate.

Entry from Marva's daughter on August 19, 2008
Hello, I am the youngest daughter of Ms. Marva Parker. I found this website for my mother last year and she was very excited to get in touch with her childhood friends.

I regret to inform you that on Sept 20, 2007, my mother lost her lengthy battle with diabetes, heart & kidney disease.

I wanted you to know that she cherished all of her memories of her childhood and young adulthood.

Sincerely,
Elizabeth Trail

Entry from May 2006:

After I graduated High School, I joined the U.S. Navy. I married while in the service. I have seven, yes 7, adult children, and 15 grandchildren. I've lived all over the country before settling down in Florida. I look forward to hearing from any of my former classmates.
