On July 31, 2010, Carolyn wrote:
Jerry passed away in 2004 and then I lost our home in 2005 to Hurricane
Katrina. I have moved up Hwy 49 to Perkinston (which I call the suburb of
Wiggins)! I'm sure Jerry is looking down at me and shaking his head--"Women!
How do you understand them?" When our boys were young, Jerry had the desire
to live in the country, but I wasn't sure I wanted to leave the city. Now
here I am in Perkinston, but without my soul mate. Go figure!
Doug and Pam are still in Hattiesburg. Austin is now 20 and Ashley, 18.
They both attend USM.
Mark and Beth are now in Auburn, AL. Mark works for Auburn University as
supervisor of their aquaculture department. Beth works for USDA in the fish
disease department. They have two children: JJ, who just turned 7, and
Riley, who is 5. She is the only grandchild who never got to see her
"Pops."
Kevin and Wendy still teach, but Wendy is now at GHS. Kevin remains at
Bayou View Middle School teaching art and is also the 7th grade football
coach. Nik is now 10 and is our football player! They live in Woolmarket
on the water very near Back Bay.
Living in Perk makes me about half way between Doug and Kevin, so I get to
see those grandchildren more often than I do JJ and Riley.
I enjoy getting together with the GG girls at our bi-monthly luncheons.
Even though we have made new friends as we have aged,I have said many
times--there is nothing that can come close to the bonds of old friends. |
