James O. Brewer
December 7, 1941 to August 14, 2005

James Olan Brewer of Pensacola, FL died after a long illness on Sunday, August 14, 2005, in Pensacola.

He was born at home on a cold winter morning on December 7, 1941, the day Pearl Harbor was bombed.  His greatest achievement was to never have been admitted into a hospital his whole like (and hardly sick a day in his life), until lung cancer consumed his last five months.  Up until that time, he had only two great losses (and both to heart attacks), his father C. W. Brewer, 1908-1979; and his brother nearest his age, Carl W. Brewer, 1943-1995.

Mr. Brewer was a great traveling companion, hard worker, God-fearing, fun loving, and had a joke on every subject.  He loved pier-fishing day or night, and the thrill of deep-sea fishing.  He was a couch potato during football season, college basketball playoffs, NASCAR, WPT, and baseball season.

James was a native of Gulfport, and served in the U. S. Army during Vietnam.  He spent a few years working in Chicago and returned to the Gulf Coast where he continued his lifelong love of living on the Gulf Coast.  From 1980 until present, he tried his hand at fast food franchising, real estate brokerage, stock brokerage, and the insurance industry.  at the time of his death, he was studying to get a CCIM designation.

James “Jim” is survived by two wonderful children, daughter, Kimberly Kramer and her husband, Kevin, and their son, Austin; and son, James “Boo” Alan Brewer, and his wife, Cynthia, and their children, Hanna, Matthew, and Madison.  He is also survived by his mother, Maybelle Brewer, of Gulfport; his brother, lifelong friend, and compatriot, Travis Brewer, of Pensacola, and Travis’ children, PFC Chris Brewer, recuperating at Ft. Carson from a roadside bomb attack in Iraq; and Kennedy Brewer, of Tampa; his sweet sister, Teresa E. Roberts and her husband, Judge Bruce Roberts, and their children, Bruce III, and Elizabeth, all proud residents of Gulfport; three other nephews; two grand-nephews; two grand-nieces; and many aunts,, uncles, and cousins.

He is gone and our world will never be the same.

Visitation for family and friends will be at Riemann Memorial Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy 49, Orange Grove, today, Tuesday, August 16, 2005 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  A quiet graveside ceremony will be held at the National Cemetery in Biloxi at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 17.
